for future reference. Before you get on a plane go into a duty free store find a per fume you like, and spray the hell out of it on a scent strip or piece of paper. Keep it in a pocket or nearby. When you get on the plane and are olfactorily assaulted, pull out the strip and hold it close to your nose. Do it regularly and as often as you need to.
It has been a life saver on those long hauls.
